Bomb Threat Evacuates Marietta Daily Journal, Local Businesses
A black Porsche was parked in front of a local newspaper with a note that said, in part: "will explode on contact."

MARIETTA, GA — A bomb threat evacuated the Marietta Daily Journal offices and several neighboring businesses Thursday morning. According to police, a 911 call came in around 10 a.m. regarding an unoccupied black Porsche that was parked in front of 47 Waddell Street with a sign on the dashboard that stated, in part: “will explode on contact.”
Police established a perimeter around the vehicle, eventually locating the car's owner, Gary Studenic, 70, of Marietta, inside a building on the downtown square. He told police "this was all just a private joke between two friends," and said he didn't realize he placed the notes in public view on his dashboard.
Police said the person who wrote the note, identified as Richard Calhoun of Marietta, arrived on the scene around 11:10 a.m. and spoke with detectives. No explosives were present, and Studenic was charged with reckless conduct and booked into jail on a $250 bond.
