Sandy Springs, GA—Act3 Playhouse presents the comedy with a heart, Perfect Arrangement, Oct. 13-29, 2023. Written by Atlanta-based playwright Topher Payne and directed by Amy Cain, Perfect Arrangement is a perfectly wonderful blend of madcap comedy and thoughtful drama.
The story takes audiences behind closed doors in the 1950’s as two U.S. State Department employees are tasked with identifying “sexual deviants” within their ranks. The problem? The employees, Bob and Norma, are gay, and have carefully constructed a cover by marrying each other’s partner. The apartments of the two couples are connected by a hidden closet door, a perfect metaphor for the closeted life the four are forced to lead. Funny, thought-provoking and relevant, the sitcom-style production is inspired by the true story of the earliest stirrings of the American gay rights movement.
The intimate, 100-seat Act3 Playhouse is located in the heart of Sandy Springs in Sandy Springs Plaza at 6285R Roswell Road (enter through the breezeway next to Five Guys). Ample free parking is available, and the area offers patrons many fine restaurants for pre- or post-theater dining.
