MLK Day Celebration Returns Jan. 21 In Sandy Springs
The city of Sandy Springs will host its annual event honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Studio Theatre at City Springs.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Residents are invited to join the city of Sandy Springs on Monday when it hosts its annual tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The city's event kicks off at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21 in the Studio Theatre at City Springs.
This event, which is now in its 13th year, will celebrate the spirit of the American civil rights hero and "reflect the diversity of the community." Each day, volunteers give of their time, talent and treasure to many clients served by the city's nonprofit organizations.
The 2019 tribute to Dr. King will acknowledge these members of our community who make a difference in the lives of children every day. These volunteers donate countless hours to the Los Ninos Primero, an organization dedicated to helping and inspiring students and their families from the Sandy Springs community. The event will also include performances by the children.

"Dr. King believed that even the smallest amount of encouragement and support to help someone matters," said Mayor Rusty Paul. "It is fitting that we use this day to acknowledge the many who give of themselves by volunteering, and at the same time, inform the community on opportunities where they, too, can get involved."
Sandy Springs businessman Oz Hill returns as emcee. Mr. Hill is the principal and chief executive officer of International Security Solutions Inc., a full-service security consulting, planning and program management corporation. Pastor Henry Bush of Sharon Community United Methodist Church will provide inspirational thoughts and the challenge for all to continue Dr. King’s essential work. Both men have been a part of the city’s MLK Day Celebration since the event’s inception.
