Here are the top three stories in Sandy Springs today:

1. Real estate development company Tishman Speyer has expanded its portfolio and acquired a 502-unit community in Sandy Springs, Avia at North Springs. Tishman Speyer has planned a strategic renovation program to modernize and upgrade most existing units in the community, which will be rebranded as “Randolph Perimeter." As part of the renovations, the community will get an upgraded fitness center, a pickleball court, an outdoor television lounge with entertainment space, and poolside lounge areas. The timeline for completing the project has not yet been announced. (Multi-Housing News)
2. Sandy Springs is currently updating the Sidewalk Network Masterplan, and they are soliciting community feedback and requests for additional sidewalks. You can submit your feedback through Oct. 13 via an online form and all recommendations will be presented to city council at the Dec. 5 meeting. (Sandy Springs, Georgia: City News via Facebook)
3. On Wednesday evening, an eastbound tractor-trailer on I-285 in Sandy Springs crashed and overturned with 40,000 pounds of frozen chicken emptying onto the interstate. According to police, seven cars were involved in the accident, which stopped traffic for nearly an hour and a half as motorists had to find alternate routes. (Ledger-Enquirer)
