Why are you seeking elective office?

I have been a Sandy Springs resident and homeowner for over 25 years and I plan to stay in Sandy Springs another 25 years. With my business and legal background and my many years of experience, I believe I am uniquely suited to help the city develop its strategic direction going forward.

The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

We need balanced development in the north end of the city to enhance the lives of the residents there, including more parks, trails and recreational opportunities.

What are your short- and long-term goals if you are elected?

Short term - the city leadership has done a good job supporting our first responders and I want that to continue. Everyone in Sandy Springs appreciates how safe and quiet the city is, and we must continually evaluate ongoing needs to keep it that way.
Longer term - I want the city to expand our parks and recreation, especially for those residents of the north end of Sandy Springs. I would like to explore where the city might be able to partner with and assist Fulton County Schools to seek opportunities for our youth. I also want to explore some ideas for creating more senior housing and housing for home ownership for the "missing middle" to allow persons with modest incomes to get their foot in the door and begin building equity.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

My legal training has given me the ability to see both sides of an issue and approach it from the perspective of trying to creatively solve a problem. I am a big believer in compromise to create a win-win so that we can make progress. I am full of ideas, and while I may not be able to see them all implemented I believe I can enhance the lives of all District 2 residents. My friends who encouraged me to run for city council describe me as having a big heart and thick skin, which are necessary qualities for anyone running for office. I am also known for being a contributor and getting things done. I worked hard with other individuals to gain the commitment from Fulton County Schools to replace the very old North Springs High School building in the next ESPLOST and I am very proud of my contribution to that effort.
