  1. Plans for the Sandy Springs Fleet Maintenance Facility faced opposition due to concerns over the installation of visible razor wire fencing on Roswell Road. The facility, part of a $50 million police headquarters expansion, aims to provide maintenance and fuel for city vehicles. Residents voiced worries about the negative impact on the area's image and lack of public input. After discussion, a compromise was reached, involving ornamental steel security fencing for visible areas and chain-link fencing with razor wire for hidden portions, resulting in a 5-1 council vote for approval. 2. During a meeting on Jul. 31, the Chattahoochee River 911 Authority (ChatComm) named Major Dan Nable of the Sandy Springs Police Department as the new executive director, succeeding Patrick Flaherty. Flaherty, the former executive director, and Sandy Springs Fire Department Section Chief for EMS, was praised for his dedication to incorporating advanced technology and training for a safer community environment. Nable, an original member of the Sandy Springs Police Department, brings extensive law enforcement experience and expressed appreciation for the opportunity while acknowledging Flaherty's guidance. 3. Marleo L. Farmer-Davis, from Sandy Springs, has been charged with crashing a U-Haul into a Kentucky business, then fleeing the scene and engaging deputies in a slow-speed pursuit across multiple counties. The incident occurred on Jul. 28, leading to Farmer-Davis' arrest on charges of leaving the accident scene and evading the police. After hitting a Kuttawa business and fleeing, he was found driving the U-Haul on Interstate 24, eventually being apprehended in Livingston County and taken to the Crittenden County Detention Center.
