Fundraiser Seeks To Replace Chastain Park Conservancy Barn

The organization's barn was destroyed in a fire, and organizers hope to collect funds to replace the structure.

ATLANTA, GA — The Chastain Park Conservancy has launched an online campaign to raise money to replace a historic structure destroyed late last week in a devastating fire.

The Restore Chastain fundraiser is hoping to raise $50,000 to rebuild the barn the organization planned to renovate into its Ray Mock Memorial Green. As of Wednesday afternoon, a little more than $9,600 had been donated towards the initiative.

The fire was reported around 5:30 p.m. Jan. 4 and destroyed the barn in the community. Atlanta Fire Rescue Department spokesperson Sgt. Cortez Stafford said crews arrived at the metal building to find the structure engulfed in flames and partially collapsed. Stafford said there were no injuries to employees, animals or firefighters. Sgt. Stafford said the fire remains under investigation.
