  1. Despite the $50 million expansion plans for the Sandy Springs Police headquarters near Morgan Falls Road seemingly being finalized, local residents continue to voice concerns about various aspects of the project. The expansion, which aims to add over 20,000 square feet to the existing facility, faces opposition from residents of the nearby Cambridge townhome development. Their concerns include the aesthetic impact of visible security fencing, specifically razor wire, which they fear could negatively affect property values and community aesthetics. The City Council is deliberating on these concerns and considering potential compromises before proceeding with the project. (Appen Media)
  2. Former Republican Lieutenant Governor of Georgia, Geoff Duncan, has been subpoenaed to testify before a Fulton County grand jury this month. Duncan, who is now a CNN commentator, gained prominence for openly challenging former President Donald Trump's baseless claims of election fraud in the 2020 election. His resistance to these claims led to criticism from within his party, ultimately influencing his decision not to seek re-election in 2022. (The Messanger)
  3. National Farmers Market Week began on Aug. 6, and the Sandy Springs Farmers Market has been running for 14 years, operating on Saturdays at City Springs from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sandy Springs City Council members participated in the celebration of National Farmers Market Week by offering free ice cream to residents over the weekend.
