  1. During the Sandy Springs Conservancy’s annual Thought Leaders Dinner on Sep. 27, a panel of experts, including representatives from Trust for Public Land and Chattahoochee Riverkeeper, discussed the importance of the Chattahoochee River and plans to add more trails in Sandy Springs. The panel expressed the need for increased access points. They also chatted on the challenges of maintaining adequate water quality, with the Riverkeeper monitoring pollution levels, including an incident traced to a water reclamation facility in Fulton County. 2. The Mount Vernon Highway overpass at Interstate 285 in Georgia will remain closed for nearly a year following critical damage caused by a tractor-trailer crash. The closure, affecting both vehicles and pedestrians, will persist until the summer of 2024 when the new overpass, part of the I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane Extension project, is anticipated to be completed. The Georgia Department of Transportation has implemented a detour route, and while efforts are being made to expedite the construction timeline, the overpass closure is expected to cause significant traffic disruptions in the area. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
  3. Homeowners in the nearby South Fulton area were double billed for sanitation services, with both homeowners and their mortgage companies paying sanitation bills to the tax commissioner's office. The city council was not informed about this billing process, leaving residents surprised. Fulton County stated that mortgage companies conducted electronic sweeps and paid the sanitation charges out of escrow, and now, the city is advising homeowners to check with their mortgage companies to avoid duplicate payments, assuring that individuals who overpaid will receive refunds from the tax commissioner.
