  1. Sandy Springs mother Le'Dor Milteer has raised donations to host a private screening of "The Little Mermaid" for young girls of color at the Sandy Springs Cinema and Tap House. Milteer is hosting the screening to give young girls of color the chance to see a reflection of themselves in the Black actress portraying the iconic Little Mermaid. Quote Milteer: "There is an undeniable need for this. Representation matters and this film is an inspiration. My 7-year-old daughter wants to be a doctor all because of the Disney cartoon, 'Doc McStuffins,' about a young Black doctor who can fix toys with the help of her friends." (The Atlanta-Journal Constitution)
  2. The Cobb & Douglas Department of Public Health has released food and sanitation scores for some local favorites, including Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen, which received a 91-point A on May 24; Perks Coffee and Nom Station, which received a perfect 100 A on May 25; Ph'east-Fan'Tasia, which was graded at an 87 B; and Piu Bello, which got a 90 A, among others. Full list at the link! (East Cobb News)
  3. WSB Radio's Doug Turnbull took to his Twitter page on the evening of Thursday, May 25, to warn locals to avoid a fallen tree which hit a truck, leaving only the left lane of the highway open near Northridge Exit 6. Turnbull advised locals to take Highway 9 or other detours in order to avoid traffic congestion. (@DougTurnbull via Twitter)
