Whether he’s coaching baseball, preparing meals for those in need, or mentoring local youth, Coach Larry Colbert is known for showing up—day in and day out—with heart, hustle, and a servant’s spirit. Recently recognized as a “Terrific School Worker” on the KISS 104.1 radio show, "Toni & Tony in The Morning," Coach Colbert continues to inspire students, families, and fellow community members through his unwavering dedication.

A respected assistant baseball coach at North Springs and a local sports standout, Colbert’s impact reaches far beyond the diamond. In a moving nomination letter, North Springs parent Melissa Sykes described him as “a dedicated coach, a talented chef, and a respected local player with a deep passion for being a positive role model not just for the young people he mentors, but for his entire community.”

She described how Coach Colbert leads with action. He donated an organ, prepares home-cooked meals for the homeless each month, and organizes school supply and coat drives for struggling families. He also lends his culinary skills to local nonprofits, helping ensure families in need receive a full Thanksgiving meal each year. Sykes wrote, “In his very first year coaching, he led his local middle school team to a championship victory, proving that commitment, faith, and perseverance truly pay off.”
