  1. Marvin S. Arrington, Sr., a retired Fulton County Superior Court Judge and former City of Atlanta council president has passed away at the age of 82. He died peacefully at his home on Jul. 5, surrounded by his loved ones. Arrington Sr., a prominent figure in Atlanta politics since the late 1960s, dedicated his life to serving his community and played a significant role in the city's growth and development. Atlanta Mayor Dickens expressed deep condolences to the Arrington family and acknowledged Arrington Sr.'s unwavering love for the city and his relentless pursuit of progress. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. A man is recovering after a severe storm caused a tree to crash through his windshield, impaling him. Anthony Sotelo, along with his wife and son, was driving on Roswell Road when the incident occurred. Despite being impaled twice by the branch, Sotelo managed to pull it out and apply pressure to his wounds until help arrived. The family has started a GoFundMe campaign to assist with their medical bills and rehabilitation costs, receiving support from donors. (WSB Atlanta)
  3. Kayricka Wortham, along with six others, has been sentenced for participating in a scheme to steal over $9.4 million from Amazon. Wortham, who used her position as an operations manager at an Amazon warehouse in Atlanta, submitted fake invoices for fictitious vendors, leading to fraudulent payments. She has been sentenced to 16 years in federal prison, ordered to repay the stolen money, and is facing additional charges for defrauding another company and forging a federal judge's signature.
