Resurgens Orthopaedics Doctor Named Garrett Award Winner

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Resurgens Orthopaedics has awarded Dr. Mark Hanna its 12th annual Garrett Award. The award is given each year to a Resurgens Orthopaedics physician who demonstrates the characteristics of the practice’s founder, John C. Garrett, MD, including excellence in patient care, building relationships and compromise.

Hanna is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and specializes in hip and knee joint replacement surgery. He practices in Resurgens Orthopaedics’ Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital location in Sandy Springs. Hanna has been named a Top Doctor by "Atlanta Magazine" and was honored by the Arthritis Foundation for his work with arthritis patients and advocacy for the arthritis community.

Mark Hanna practices in Resurgens Orthopaedics’ Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital location and specializes in hip and knee joint replacement surgery. He received his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York and completed his residency at Emory University in Atlanta. He was fellowship-trained in total joint replacement and biologic reconstruction at Harvard University. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the Georgia Orthopaedic Society and the Atlanta Orthopaedic Society. Hanna is a supporter of the Arthritis Foundation and supports the uninsured and underserved through his involvement with Operation Walk USA and Mercy Care.

Resurgens Orthopaedics was founded in 1986 by Garrett. In 1999, seven independent physician groups merged to form one practice under the existing name of Resurgens Orthopaedics.
