Sandy Springs Crash Injures Officer; 2 Charged
The officer was investigating another crash on GA-400 when he was hit by a motorcyclist who was reportedly accused of being impaired.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA — Two people have been arrested in connection with a motorcycle crash that seriously injured a Sandy Springs Police officer Saturday at State Route 400.
Police on Wednesday said they have arrested David Anthony Hightower in connection with the crash and charged him with racing, reckless driving and serious injury by motor vehicle.
The officer was investigating another crash on GA-400 when he was hit by a motorcycle, police said.

He suffered two broken legs, WSB-TV reported. As of Monday, he was recovering, police previously said.
Hightower was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Fulton County Jail, police said. Jail records showed he was granted a combined $20,000 surety bond but remained incarcerated Wednesday. He was fined $100 for the racing charge, jail records showed.

Police additionally arrested Riad Ahmed, who was accused of driving under the influence and traveling at 100 mph, WSB-TV reported.
Jail records did not show official charges against Ahmed on Wednesday afternoon.
