State Rep. Wilson Learns Committee Assignments

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — A new state legislator representing parts of Sandy Springs and Brookhaven took his oath of office last week.
State Rep. Matthew Wilson was sworn into office Jan. 14 as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives. Wilson has embarked on his first two-year term in the state house which has convened for the 155th legislative session for the Georgia General Assembly.

Wilson, a Democrat who lives in Brookhaven, was also named to the Agriculture & Consumer Affairs, Education and Judiciary committees. He represents House District 80, which includes parts of Sandy Springs and Brookhaven.
“I'm grateful to the Speaker and the House Committee on Assignments for putting me in a position to use my experience as a lawyer, former teacher and consumer rights advocate in evaluating legislation at the committee level,” said Rep. Wilson. “These committees will hear bills of crucial importance to Georgians across north Atlanta and our entire state, and I’m ready to get to work.”

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston, is charged with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
