Tucker Teacher Charged With DUI In School Incident

The Tucker High School teacher has been placed on administrative leave and is currently banned from school property.

TUCKER, GA — A Tucker High School employee was arrested this week and is facing a driving under the influence charge after a property damage incident in the school's parking lot, according to the school.

Patch on Wednesday obtained a copy of a letter that Tucker High Principal Dr. Eric Parker sent to families notifying them that the staffer was arrested Monday.

In the letter, Parker did not fully detail the nature of the incident or identify the staff member who was arrested by school police. He noted no one was injured in the incident.

However, school officials confirmed to Patch the staffer was Minnie Turner. She was not listed on the school's online directory late Wednesday afternoon, but Fox 5 Atlanta reported Turner was a science teacher at the school.

"The DeKalb County School District and our school prioritize the safety and well-being of all students and staff. We take reports of improper or unlawful behavior seriously and address them promptly and appropriately," Parker said in the letter.

Turner was charged on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol-less safe and was released on bond Wednesday, DeKalb County Jail records showed.

She was placed on administrative leave and is banned from school property until an investigation is completed, Parker's letter stated.
