Chain Fitness Center Opens In Darien
The gym offers a "non-intimidating environment" for its members, the franchisee said.
DARIEN, IL – A Planet Fitness franchise has opened in Darien, with a grand opening set for next month.
The 25,000-square-foot gym is at 7415 S. Cass Ave., which is northeast of Cass and 75th Street. It is in the space formerly occupied by American Freight and Sears.
"Plant Fitness is a gym for all fitness levels, providing a 'Judgment Free' environment that offers an accessible and non-intimidating environment for its guests," Mary Scott of franchisee Epic Fitness Group said in a news release Wednesday.

Epic runs more than 60 Planet Fitness clubs across Illinois, Michigan and Ohio.
The club is open around the clock Monday through Thursday, Fridays until 10 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Last spring, a developer told Darien officials that Planet Fitness was coming.
According to the news release, every Planet Fitness membership includes free fitness training with certified trainers, among other things.
The chain has about 2,900 locations worldwide.
