Apartment Fire 'Brought Under Control Quickly': Palatine Fire Department
Officials said the cause of the fire in a two-story, multi-unit building remains under investigation.
PALATINE, IL — Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish an apartment fire Friday in the 300 block of N. Northwest Highway. Officials said no emergency responders or civilians were injured in a blaze that brought out 25 firefighters.
The fire remains under investigation, with damage estimates not available as of Monday night.
Palatine firefighters responded to an activated fire alarm at the two-story, multi-use building at around 6:31 p.m. The initial units reported fire showing from a second-floor apartment in the rear of the structure. The alarm was immediately upgraded to a working fire, and crews were able to put the fire out in 15 minutes.

Firefighters used thermal-imaging cameras to conduct primary searches throughout the building, and no victims were found. Officials said the fire was contained to the single apartment of origin, with no extension into other units.
The fire was fought by 25 firefighters staffing four engines, one ladder truck, one rescue squad, and four ambulances, which responded to the scene along with four command officers. The Palatine Fire Department was supported by fire companies from Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows, with Palatine police providing traffic and crowd control. ComEd and Nicor Gas responded to assist with isolating utilities to the affected unit.
