Celebrating Cats and Community: Barb’s Precious Rescue Hosts Annual Open House

The 2025 Open House will feature adoption and volunteer opportunities, tours, raffles, and a preview of future plans.

Barb’s Precious Rescue and Adoption Center will host its Annual Open House on Saturday, September 27, from 1 to 4 p.m. This year’s event shines a spotlight on connecting with the community and sharing our mission of saving cats in need. Guests will also get a first look at plans for a dedicated Adoption Center to be built on the adjacent lot — an exciting next step in expanding our impact.

The 2025 Open House highlights include:

  • Meet adoptable cats and kittens
  • Guided tours of the facility, including David Helt Veterinary Care Center
  • Limited-edition merchandise ($15 short sleeve, $20 long sleeve), sweatshirts ($50), and water bottles ($15)
  • Cat shaped cookies for sale (made by a volunteer, Baked By Jane Dough)
  • Preview of plans for the new Adoption Center
  • Appearances by beloved cat mascots Quentin, Babs, and Jerry
  • Opportunities to donate toward veterinary services and facility expansions
  • Sign-up for those interested in volunteering
  • Photo opps (Skorynko Media Group)
  • Raffle with fun prizes featuring gift cards to local restaurants and activities donated by Abt Electronics, Ancho & Agave in Deer Park, Baked By Jane Dough, Bottleneck Management, Cafe Fourteen, Candlelite Chicago, Chicago Culinary Kitchen, Clara’s Italian Restaurant in Woodridge, Electric Shuffle, Fry the Coop - Prospect Heights, Garden Berry Cafe, Hot Pockets Sports Bar, JJ Twigs Pizza & Pub, The Painted Penguin Vernon Hills, Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council, Photos Hotdogs, Pure Blanc Nails, Sorelle Italian Market in Long Grove, Tap House Grill, Tievoli Pizza Bar.

Barb’s Precious Rescue and Adoption Center is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing a no-kill, cage-free environment for rescued animals. Located at 313 N.
