Get Child's Car Seat Checked By Palatine Police

Experts will make sure car seats are properly installed during an event Friday.

PALATINE, IL — Parents can gain a little peace mind Friday when it comes to the safety of their child's car seat thanks to Palatine police. They also can make sure their equipment meets the standards outlined by a new state law that will go into effect next year.

Certified seat technicians will check if car seats are correctly installed for anyone who drives up to the Palatine Police Department, 595 N. Hicks Road., from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 28. No appointments are necessary.

The event is part of more than 90 in the state sponsored by the Illinois Department of Transportation. Beginning Jan. 1, 2019, children younger than 2 must ride in a rear-facing child seat, and kids younger than 8 must be in an appropriate child restraint system.
