Palatine Student Receives Patent Support for Innovative 'Lost Lotion' Invention
Ahtziri Diaz is an eighth-grader at Quest Academy, an independent school for intellectually gifted students.

PALATINE, IL — An invention by Ahtziri Diaz, an eighth-grader at Quest Academy, was recently selected to receive professional support in applying for a U.S. patent. "Lost Lotion" — a no-waste lotion bottle designed to ensure every last drop is used — was chosen by Vedder Price, the Illinois Student Invention Convention's patent sponsor.
According to Quest Academy, Vedder Price will provide guidance and resources to help Ahtziri and her family navigate the patent application process.
"This unique opportunity not only supports Ahtziri’s ingenuity but also exemplifies Quest Academy’s commitment to nurturing creativity, innovation, and problem-solving in its students," the independent school for intellectually gifted students said.

The ISIC program is dedicated to fostering innovation among Kindergarten to eighth-grade students in the state.
"Ahtziri's invention is a shining example of how our students look at everyday challenges and
find meaningful solutions," Dr. Vicki Phelps, executive director and head of school at Quest, said. "We are incredibly proud of her entrepreneurial spirit and thrilled that Vedder Price is supporting her as she takes this next big step."

Ahtziri's invention was developed through Quest Academy's Innovation Lab, where students are
encouraged to design solutions that make a real-world impact.
