• Boys basketball: Pinto, Fremd squeak past Hersey, tie for MSL West lead (dailyherald.com) — Fremd’s boys basketball team edged Hersey 67-63 in Palatine, tightening a competitive Mid-Suburban League West race that now includes Palatine High in a three-way tie for first. Rafael Pinto led Fremd with 19 points and key late free throws, while Hersey’s strong second-half push fell just short in coach Bob Widlowski’s return to his former home gym.
   

• Car driven by Cary man involved in fatal crash in Deer Park, police say (shawlocal.com) — A 95-year-old man from Palatine was killed Tuesday afternoon when his stalled car on Lake-Cook Road in Deer Park was struck from behind, also injuring three others. The crash, which involved another car and a school bus, remains under investigation, and the surviving victims from Cary, Arlington Heights, and Barrington were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
