• Quest Academy alumnus receives second patent award from Vedder Price (shawlocal.com) — Quest Academy in Palatine is celebrating alumnus Rayan Zaidi, Class of 2025, for earning his second Vedder Price Patent Award, this time for his fire-safety invention, PyroShield. Developed while he was an eighth grader at the Palatine school, his work highlights Quest’s emphasis on creativity, STEM learning, and hands-on innovation that continues to shape students even after they graduate.
   

• Boys basketball: Palatine pulls away from Prospect (dailyherald.com) — Palatine High School’s boys basketball team continued its strong season with a decisive 51-32 road win over Prospect, fueled by a dominant fourth-quarter run. Senior center and Illinois football signee Tony Balanganayi led the Pirates with 25 points as they improved to 13-3 and stayed just one game out of the Mid-Suburban West lead.
