Separate 'Major' Felony Meth Busts Made Within Hours In Palatine: Police

The arrests were made late Tuesday and early Wednesday morning, according to police.

PALATINE, IL — In what police are calling "major" methamphetamine arrests, two people were charged with felonies in separate busts overnight. One arrest was made during a traffic stop, while the other was during a welfare check, with Palatine police recovering "significant amounts" of the drug.

In the first incident at around 10:30 p.m., a Palatine police officer was in the area of East Dundee and North Frontage roads when he saw a white Nissan sedan fail to stop for a red light. The officer pulled the car over, which was driven by Jonathan Cruz Arreola, 30, of the 1500 block of N. Crimson Lane, Palatine.

According to police, a consent search of the vehicle uncovered narcotics' paraphernalia, along with approximately 17 grams of methamphetamine, found in a bag belonging to Cruz Arreola. He was charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine (15 to 100 grams) and manufacturing/delivery of methamphetamine (15 to 100 grams), as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and a petty offense of disregarding a traffic control device.

Around two hours later at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, a Palatine police officer on patrol in the 1100 block of East Nichols Road found a woman who appeared to be unconscious or asleep inside a running, dark-colored Honda minivan. The officer conducted a welfare check and made contact with the sole occupant, Alissa J. Goudie, 38, of Salem, Wisconsin.

While speaking with Goudie, police could see drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle, and a subsequent search resulted in the discovery of approximately 25 grams of methamphetamine. Goudie was charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver (15 to 100 grams) and possession of methamphetamine (15 to 100 grams), as well as a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
