Legendary Malden Football Coach Paul Finn Dies At 74

Finn led Malden to multiple league titles and was inducted into the MHS and MA High School Football Coaches Association Halls of Fame.

MALDEN, MA — Longtime Malden High School football coach Paul Finn, who led the Golden Tornadoes to multiple Greater Boston League championship titles, passed away Feb. 7. He was 74 years old.

A Malden native, Finn was a standout athlete at Malden High School as part of the basketball and football teams. He was a member of the 1964 basketball team that won the Tech Tourney championship, and scored two touchdowns on the Thanksgiving Day rivalry game against Medford, according to his obituary.

Finn returned to Malden after college, where he served as a teacher, assistant principal and head football coach until his retirement in 2006. He was later inducted into the Malden High School and Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association Halls of Fame.

A celebration of life for Finn was held on Saturday, Feb. 12 at St. Mary's Church in Melrose.
