Malden Baby Is First Born In 2023 At MelroseWakefield Hospital

Mason Robert Saunders was born at 1:45 a.m. on Monday, the hospital announced.

MALDEN, MA — A Malden family welcomed the first child born at MelroseWakefield Hospital in 2023 early Monday morning.

Mason Robert Saunders was born to mom Cynthia Ocegueda and dad Ryan Saunders at 1:45 a.m., the hospital announced.

The timing of Mason’s birth was somewhat of a surprise, hospital officials said, coming three weeks before his due date.

Mason joined siblings Cayla, 14; Bailey, 13; Jorden, 12; and Dax, 3.

All are happy, healthy and excited to welcome Mason home, hospital officials said.
