Nanny Facing Child Endangerment Charge; Accused of Being Drunk

SALEM, MA - A Saugus woman working as a nanny for the parents of a four-month-old Salem girl is facing child endangerment charges for allegedly being drunk on the job, according to Salem police.

Susan J. Conway-Lally, 52, of 7 Fairchild Avenue in Saugus was arrested and charged with the reckless endangerment of a child on Wednesday.
According to a police report, the mother came home to find Conway-Lally so drunk “she couldn’t work the dead bolt” on the back door, myfoxboston reported.

Firefighters forced their way in using a pry bar and an ax, according to 7New.whdh.com. Police officials said Conway-Lally’s blood alcohol content was four times the legal limit.
According to police records, inside Conway-Lally’s purse they found “an 80 proof bottle of vodka, 90 percent empty.”
The parents had hired Conway-Lally through Care.com, which in a statement said it was troubled by the incident and will provide any assistance to law enforcement it can.
Conway-Lally was arraigned on Thursday.
