I-93 Construction Takes a Break for 4th of July Weekend

No bridge replacement work will take place this weekend.

In an effort to avoid adding to holiday weekend traffic in the Boston area, I-93 bridge replacement crews will be taking a break this weekend.

The "Fast14" project, which aims to replace 14 superstructures along the interstate in Medford by the end of the summer, replaces at least one bridge nearly every weekend until September. The work narrows the interstate to two lanes between Stoneham and Somerville and typically causes street closures in the area of work.

Last weekend, crews replaced bridges over the Mystic River and Valley Street. Next up - The northbound bridge over Webster Street, June 8 to June 11.
