This Day in History: Tufts Tries For $2 Million for Med School

On July 4, 1937, Tufts College officials announced the would begin an ambitious campaign to raise $2 million in six months to build a new medical school, according to a Boston Globe article published the following day.

The $2 million would go toward $5 million in total for the new complex, the article said.

While a monumental goal at the time, it pales in comparison to the

Nearly 140,000 donors contributed $434 million for scholarships and other support to enhance the student experience in the more recent effort, creating more than 630 new endowed and term scholarships.
