New Medford Teachers Contract Approved
The Medford School Committee approved a new teachers union contract for Medford Public Schools this week, one that will run through the end of the 2014-2015 school year.
The contract includes a new teacher evaluation system following state guidelines as well as 2 percent raises for each of the next two school years and a 1.25 percent raise in the middle of 2014-2015.

Resident Raises Concerns Over Stoneham Re-development Project
Medford resident Tom Lincoln appeared before the Medford City Council Tuesday to raise concerns over the local impact of the proposed re-development of Woodland Road in Stoneham, just over the northern Medford city line. Lincoln is asking a period for public comment be extended by the state for further environmental review. The City Council and Mayor Michael McGlynn support Lincoln's effort.
Medford-Based Super PAC Aims for State "Two-Party Balance"
Michael Morales, a Medford resident, has established a new Super PAC called the Committee for a Better Massachusetts. Morales told Patch the Super PAC is for "restoring a healthy two-party balance in Massachusetts. It will support candidates from outside the state's one-party political culture who are committed to government reform, balanced budgets, lowering taxes, and creating jobs."
