In a momentous announcement today, The New Philharmonia Orchestra has named Jorge Soto as its new Music Director ahead of its eagerly anticipated 30th anniversary season. This appointment marks a significant milestone for the 75-member regional orchestra based in Newton, continuing its legacy of musical excellence.

Having served as Principal Conductor since the 2020-21 season, Maestro Soto has already made a profound impact on the orchestra, maintaining the high standards set by its founder, Ron Knudsen. His elevation to Music Director comes with resounding support from both the board of trustees and the orchestra's members, who have witnessed his ability to inspire and elevate performances.

A native of Venezuela, Jorge Soto brings a wealth of international experience to his role, having also served as Associate Conductor and Principal Guest Conductor with various orchestras in North and South America. His educational background includes a Master of Music degree in conducting from the New England Conservatory, under the mentorship of esteemed conductors and teachers.

The New Philharmonia Orchestra, founded in 1995, has been dedicated to making classical music accessible and enriching for audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Their upcoming season promises a diverse repertoire and promises to continue their tradition of excellence in ensemble performance.
