NEWTON, MA - Over the March 15-16 and 22-23 weekends, the Newton fourth-grade boys travel basketball team won both the 2025 Division 1 Metrowest Boston and Division 1 New England Championships. These tournaments included more than 150 of the top-ranking town travel teams across Massachusetts and New England, with the wins marking the end of a 20-3 season for the Newton team.

Following a 37-34 victory over Milton on March 16th to secure the Metrowest title, Newton defeated Andover 50-28 (Merrimack Valley Champions), East Greenwich, RI 38-30 (Rhode Island State Champions) and Warwick, RI 53-29 in the elimination rounds of the New England Championships.

“Our kids demonstrated incredible teamwork, resilience and grit throughout the season. They never gave up when down and bounced back from all three of our losses during the season to win rematches against Waltham, Milton and East Greenwich”, said Newton Head Coach Doug Slater. “The kids improved so much during our first season together, we’re excited for what’s to come in the years ahead.”
