Newton Artists Opening Their Studio Doors For City-wide Exhibit

The annual event is put together by Newton Open Studios.

NEWTON, MA — Newton Open Studios is holding a large-scale art exhibition on Saturday, April 5 and Sunday, April 6.

The event is slated to feature the creations of more than 100 local artists. The most unique feature of the event is that attendees will travel throughout town to artists’ individual studios. Each venue visited will host up to 15 different artists. A map is available online to help residents streamline their experience. Artists who still wish to participate can register through Thursday, March 20.

Newton Open Studios was founded in 1985, when artist Renee Rubin’s perseverance earned her a grant from the city to fund its first event, which at the time featured 28 artists across 19 different locations. The studio is primarily funded through donations and artist registration fees.
