William James College's on-campus pantry launched in January 2024.
NEWTON, MA — William James College’s on-campus food pantry is approaching one full year in operation, and is currently dealing with its busiest and most crucial portion of the year during the holiday season.
The institution partnered with the Newton Food Pantry to establish its own on-campus location. According to the college, the pantry has grown each and every month since it opened. It currently has more than 100 active on-campus users and has distributed more than 4,000 items.
“Food insecurity is on the rise around the country and across the Commonwealth, even on college campuses,” The College said in a statement. “According to recent studies almost 25% of college students in the US have experienced hunger which can have a long-term impact on their physical and mental health.”
