Newton Community Pride Hosting Fall Concert Series

NEWTON, MA — Newton Community Pride (NCP) is reminding residents that the first of the Fall Village Concert Series shows is scheduled to take place this weekend
At 3 p.m. Sunday, the Nate Aronow Nextet will play at the Auburndale Community Library, 375 Auburn Street, in Auburndale.
The group has been creating its own flavor of music in Boston for over a decade, playing a variety of styles and creating a fusion of jazz, Latin, and funk sounds.

The next show in the series is by the band Afrika Gente, at 3 p.m. on Sept. 7 at the 28 Austin St. Plaza in Newtonville. The group is led by the award-winning percussionist, dancer, producer and recording artist Cornell Coley and specializes in innovative Afro-Latin Caribbean and jazz music.
The Isabel Stover Jazz Quartet is scheduled to close out the series with a performance at 3 p.m. on Sept. 23 at the Allen Center for the Arts in West Newton, located at 35 Webster St. The group is led by Stover, who began performing jazz in the San Francisco Bay Area before moving east to study at the New England Conservatory and Berklee School of Music.

The free 1-hour concerts all feature local performers in intimate outdoor settings.
"We are delighted to bring this year's fall concert series to several villages across the city and are pleased to offer live music in Auburndale for the first time," said Blair Lesser Sullivan, the executive director of NCP. "We look forward to welcoming the fall season, enlivening our villages and building community with music and song."
