Newton Non-Profit Installs 'Celebrate Newton Banners'
Approximately 130 banners decorated with designs celebrating Newton's culture, history, diversity and values have been installed across Town

NEWTON, MA – Newton residents wandering around the Town will notice news banners have been installed.
Newton Community Pride, a 501c3 non-profit, has installed the “Celebrate Newton Banners” to “enliven and brighten our city, inspire civic pride, and introduce art to more public spaces,” according to a news release.
Approximately 130 banners decorated with designs celebrating Newton’s culture, history, diversity and values have been installed along major streets and commercial areas.

The designs were created by Newton residents and artists Leah Kolidas, Adam Proia, Sage Widder, and Sarah Tomkins.
Each banner includes the word “celebrate” in the eight most common languages spoken in Newton.

“Newton Community Pride is thrilled once again to bring public art to Newton and celebrate our remarkable community through the creation of these vibrant, creative, and colorful banners,”said Meryl Kessler, Public Art Committee Chair of Newton Community Pride in the release.
The initiative is presented in partnership with the City of Newton Parks, Recreation & Culture Department, with Village Bank as the presenting sponsor.
