Newton Seniors Use Art To Connect With State And Local Leaders
Residents took a trip to the State House to deliver artwork and converse with officials.

NEWTON, MA — Local seniors took a trip to the State House to deliver dozens of pieces of handmade artwork to elected officials as part of a senior advocacy program.
Residents of the 2Life Communities’ campus, Golda Meir House, at 160 Stanton Ave., made up a large portion of the 70 seniors who participated in a two-part project aimed at connecting them with state and local leaders to remind them of the importance of elderly advocacy.
Supported by funding from MassHousing, the project is a collaboration between the art and advocacy programs at 2Life. The residents first created their pieces and then were given the opportunity to reflect on what they made and what it means to be a senior in front of their leaders through speaking and leaving written reminders.
