Pedestrian Injured In Newton Hit-And-Run

Police said the incident took place around 6:45 a.m. Thursday in the Commonwealth Avenue carriage lane.

NEWTON, MA — A pedestrian was struck and injured Thursday morning in a hit-and-run collision in Newton, police said on Thursday afternoon.

Police said the incident took place around 6:45 a.m. on the Commonwealth Avenue carriage lane when a vehicle hit a person walking near Commonwealth Avenue's intersection with Prince Street.

Police said the vehicle hit the person and did not stop, leaving the person injured in the road.

A separate passerby did stop, providing help before the injured person was taken to an area hospital, according to police.
