Traffic Change In Newton Makes A Difference As School Year Starts: Report

The change was made to make traffic flow safer during school commutes.

NEWTON, MA — Public school students returned to class this week and are already seeing traffic improvements due to a roadway change made this summer, according to a report from WCVB Newscenter 5.

Earlier this month, Elm Road was made a one-way street heading westbound from Walnut Street toward Lowell Avenue. The road is located near Newton North High School. Superintendent of Schools Anna Nolin and parents agreed that the area was safer for both buses full of students and the pedestrians that make up the 11,000 that commuted to school for the first time on Tuesday.
