NEWTON/WELLESLEY, MA – Dr. Jeff Phillips, a Wellesley resident and local primary care physician, is lacing up for the 129th Boston Marathon—not just as a runner, but as a passionate advocate for his sister and the organization that supports her— Pathway to Possible.

Dr. Phillips is running as a Newton charity runner for Pathway to Possible (P2P), a Newton-based nonprofit that provides housing, advocacy, and support for individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities. His inspiration? His sister, Kristin, who lives in a P2P residence known as Juniper House.

Kristin lives in a beautiful Victorian home with 5 other residents and Enzo the cat! She is supported with 24/7 care and is immersed in her community— attending a day program at Gateway Arts where she works and expresses her creativity through art. She also finds great joy in horseback riding and her housemates often join her for trips to the farm. Living at P2P’s Juniper House, Kristin is thriving— finding more independence, more community connections, more joy and discovering that she is capable of more than she thought was possible.

This year’s race marks Dr. Phillips’s second Boston Marathon—his first in a decade. “I may be a little older,” he jokes, “but with Kristin and the P2P crew cheering me on, I’m more determined than ever to finish strong.”
