Why These Local Girl Scouts Are Newton Star Students
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here are several who are making a difference in Newton.

NEWTON, MA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Liz Cary Blum who nominated Caroline Blum, Leah Blum, Sarah Gelbert, Emily Nauen and Zoe Eisen of Newton.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Caroline, Leah, Emily and Zoe have been Girl Scouts for 13 years, since they were in kindergarten, and Sarah joined in 6th grade. These girls have participated in many activities such as food drives, making Thanksgiving baskets for classmates in need, visiting elderly people with no family close by in nursing homes over to help make our world a better place. Even in kindergarten they understood they could make a difference and stuck together as a group throughout elementary, middle and high school to figure out ways to help others.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
These girls care about others deeply.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Caroline Blum, Leah Blum, Sarah Gelbert, Emily Nauen and Zoe Eisen!
