Check Out One Of Somerville’s Best-Decorated Halloween Houses
Curtis Street resident Erica Joyce said this is her second year decorating for Halloween.
SOMERVILLE, MA — A Somerville house is getting in the spooky spirit this Halloween with handmade decorations.
Curtis Street resident Erica Joyce said this is her second year decorating for Halloween, starting with a Jack Skellington figure in 2021 and adding additional Nightmare Before Christmas characters Zero the Dog and Oogie Boogie this year.
“I was inspired by the location (right around the corner from a school and down the street from Tufts) and thought that it would be rewarding to make people smile the first Halloween back from COVID,” Joyce said in an email.

Joyce said she decided to add more figures this Halloween after the positive response from last year’s setup. All her decorations are handmade and created from recycled materials.
"Jack is wearing altered clothing from goodwill, while Zero the dog is made of metal hangers, pool noodles and a shower curtain,” Joyce said. “The reaction was so positive last year I wanted to go bigger this year. It’s been exciting to see people taking photographs with the decorations and enjoying being outside. We all have been through a lot these past few years why not have a little fun?”
