Julian Assange’s Father, Brother To Attend Boston Film Premiere

"ITHAKA" follows the behind-the-scenes campaign to free the WikiLeaks founder.

SOMERVILLE, MA — Julian Assange’s father and brother, John and Gabriel Shipton, will be in-person speakers at the upcoming Boston premiere of the documentary “ITHAKA.”

The documentary is “a moving and intimate film following the behind-the-scenes campaign to free WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange,” said founder of Twin Seas Media Marga Varea in an email statement, “who, to many, has become an emblem of an international arm wrestle over freedom of the press, government corruption and unpunished war crimes.”

The U.S. Department of Justice has indicted the Australian national on 18 charges related to illegally obtaining, receiving and disclosing classified information through WikiLeaks, a website that has published news leaks and classified media provided by anonymous sources.
