• Boston-area holiday markets as alternatives to Snowport (newenglandnewspress.com) — Somerville shoppers can skip Snowport and stay close to home with two big holiday markets: a vintage-focused Little Market event at the Crystal Ballroom and the Somerville Flea’s annual market at Arts at the Armory. The guide also spotlights several other Boston-area markets, all featuring small, independent vendors, festive entertainment, and mostly free admission for last-minute gift hunting.
   

• Apply today for creative space at Somerville's Armory (thesomervilletimes.com) — Somerville is opening up new creative space at the city-owned Armory on Highland Avenue, and arts and creative enterprises can now apply to lease it. The city has posted detailed RFP materials, timelines, and checklists on the SomerVoice Armory Master Plan page, and will soon offer tours, Q&As, and workshops to help applicants submit strong proposals.
   

• Winter Hill Residents Celebrate Demolition Of Abandoned Grocery Store (iheart.com) — Neighbors in Somerville’s Winter Hill just watched demolition begin on the long-abandoned Star Market on Broadway, clearing the way for the 299 Broadway redevelopment. The project will bring more than 300 new housing units—about half affordable—plus retail and community space, which local leaders say will transform a long-neglected stretch into a true neighborhood hub.
