PorchFest On The Doorstep Of Returning To Somerville

The free event includes musical performances scattered throughout the city.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The city’s annual PorchFest is returning to town on Saturday, May 6.

The citywide event is slated to include approximately 500 musical performances from locals on the porches of residences. The six-hour event is broken up into three two-hour intervals beginning at 12 p.m. west of Willow Avenue. The second part of the event will move to the center of the city in the vicinity of Central Street. PorchFest will conclude in the area east of Central Street.

According to the city, performances will include the various musical genres of electronic, indie, and punk to rock, pop, hip hop, classical, country, and jazz. New this year are improved safety measures, which includes emergency text alerts and an “Emergency Team” with a roster composed of firefighters, police officers, emergency management crews, and state emergency staff.

Official participants of PorchFest will have badges displayed on the front of their property. The rain date for the event is Sunday, May 11.
