Songwriters Returning To The Round In Somerville

Three musicians will provide entertainment at the upcoming free event.

SOMERVILLE, MA — Songwriters in the Round, a free event featuring performances from local musicians, is coming to the Armory Cafe on Highland Avenue on Wednesday, Jan. 15.

The concert is sponsored by the Somerville Arts Council, which is an organization supported by the Mass Cultural Council. Sarah Brindell, Derek Rando, and Dinty Child are the three singer-songwriters slated to perform.

Brindell is a San Francisco native who continued her family business of being a professional musician. Her career includes working with artists such as Norah Jones, Carole King, George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, as well as Raul Midon.

Rando is a local songwriter and front man for the band Tenderhoof. Child is a versatile artist who works with many bands, including Session Americana, Chandler Travis Philharmonic, Catbirds, and the Funky White Honkies.

The event will be hosted by David Thorne Scott, a long-time Somerville resident who was a driving force behind making the event a reality. His primary music styles are jazz and Americana. While the performance is free, donations to the musicians are encouraged.
