Unique Art Sculpture On Display At Somerville Park

The structure will be on display through next Spring.

SOMERVILLE, MA — A unique and evolving art installation is now on display at Lou Ann David Park on 1060 Broadway.

Letters Revowen is a dome-shaped white gazebo-esque structure that has been made out of the writings of locals about the themes of impermanence, transformation, renewal, and resilience. The paper writings were turned into paper pulp that acts as the outermost layer of the structure. The paper pulp material was mixed with wildflower seeds so that as time passes and the piece is naturally affected by weather, plants will sprout from it.

The work was created by local artist Anna Fubini, who specializes in using experimental and impractical materials for sculpture creation. The project was primarily funded through the Temporary Public Art by Emerging Artists Program, a grant initiative of the Somerville Arts Council funded by the New England Foundation for the Arts’ Making It Public Program.
