5 Things: Whist At The Senior Center, Planning Board Tonight

1. 3. They're playing Whist at the Watertown Senior Center. The group meets every week at the Center, 31 Marshall St., and welcomes new players! From 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.

5. On this day in 1775, British general Thomas Gage declares martial law in Massachusetts.The British offer a pardon to all colonists who lay down their arms, including those rebels living in Watertown. There would be only two exceptions to the amnesty: Samuel Adams and John Hancock, if captured, were to be hanged on the spot.
