Big Day of Music in Watertown Will Raise Money for One Fund Boston

The Canadian-American Club presents several hours of live music in a fundraiser to help victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings.

Musicians from around New England will come together in Watertown to raise money for the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings.

The day of music will be hosted by the Canadian-American Club, 202 Arlington St., on Saturday, May 11, from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. All proceeds go to One Fund Boston, to assist those injured in the Boston Marathon Bombings.

"A couple of our club members live right in the area where everything went on. It was traumatic for them. We wanted to do somtheing to help," said Mary McDonald, known around the club as Mary Mac. "Something needed to be done for the community. Hopefully we get a nice turnout."

The event for the whole family features music, food, dancing, raffles and prizes.

Musicians will be coming from all of over the Boston area and New England to play at this event. They include Scottish and Maritime step dancers, fiddlers, a pianist and lots of special guests.

"We have a lot of musicians who normally charge us and they all volunteered their time," McDonald said.

The club will also be selling "Watertown Strong" T-shirts that benefit the Watertown Police Foundation.

The club, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year, is asking for a $20 for tickets cost, but McDonald said that everyone will be welcome, even if they don't have the money for the donation.

"We want everyone to come whether they can afford it or not," she said.

Tickets are available by calling the Canadian-American Club at 617-924-9827, or stop by the club between 8 p.m. and midnight Friday. They will also be available at the door on the day of the event.
