Burger Builders Compete for Best New Creation at Friendly's in Watertown

The Burger Bash is coming to town on Sunday, June 2.

Three burger builders will compete to come up with the best new burger idea, and you can watch and enjoy a burger, too, at Friendly's.

The contest, which is on Sunday, June 2, will be judged by three local celebrity judges: Bridget Blythe, co-anchor of NECN’s “The Morning Show,” Kirk Minihane, co-host of WEEI’s “Dennis and Callahan,” and Scott Kearnan, writer for Zagat.com.

The winning burger will be chosen based on the judging criteria of creativity, taste, and presentation, according to Friendly's. The winner receives a $100 gift card to Friendly's.

Throughout May, the restaurant hosted an online contest to "Build Your Own Burger" and Friendly's chose three contests to take part in the Burger Bash. Each contestant submited a burger creation by selecting their preferred bread, protein, cheeses and toppings from an approved list of ingredients and accompaniments.

Fans can get their faces painted, visit balloon artists and enjoy music from a live DJ. The event runs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and free mini-burgers will be served from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., according to Friendly's.
